Studio Ed + BGS Studios

We are a not-for-profit dance studio and community centre that provides much needed services for communities that are systematically under supported. We run free and sliding scale weekly classes, workshops, events and creative labs; for adults, youth, kids and their families. We are the home of Black Gxrl Sesh (BGS), a pillar of community building for Black LGTBQ+ ballroom.  The majority of our organization and of our participants are trans/BIPOC/disabled.

Our space is here to support and uplift creative, artistic, cultural practices and to support the well-being of those often pushed to the fringes. We are a space that puts resources towards black/trans/queer/BIPOC/immunocompromised artists and their community. We run residencies, events, workshops and classes. We celebrate all bodies. 

Our classes are for queers, their families and those who love us; for those who may not feel comfortable or safe in a mainstream studio environment. We have devoted and experienced teachers offering meaningful  programming for kids and adults.

We offer BIPOC rates and we also have sliding scale as well as scholarship spots. please reach out for info or any questions! No one is turned away for lack of funds! studioed324@gmail.com

 ***All of our adult classes require N-95 or equivalent masks (provided for free). For our kids classes, masks are encouraged, but not required. We believe in wearing masks especially because it is one of the easier ways to make our studio safer and more accessible!***

Black Gxrl Sesh (BGS)

is a ballroom collective for Black & Trans Queer People & Black Femmes created & curated by Chivengi & Fiji.  BGS runs free classes, workshops, practice spaces and creative studios every week, bridging ballroom culture and pluri-creative art (dj’ing, performance arts, visual art, fashion design, photography).
