BEEFCAKE STRENGTH WORKSHOPS!

NOVEMBER 21-23, 2025

FRIDAY, NOV 21 (6-8pm)

HARDER BETTER FASTER STRONGER

This workshop is for my Queer Lifting Club regulars and others with some experience lifting using weights and resistance bands!  We will begin by going over form and movement basics, how to expand from the common compound lifts, and tricks and tips for doing more with your movement practice. The focus will be on progressions and regressions, with the end goal of empowering you to move your workouts along from a more knowledgeable place!

SATURDAY, NOV 22 (10:30am-12:30pm)

GATEWAY TO GAY WEIGHTS

A beginners workshop to strength training! Maybe you’ve been thinking about joining the Studio ED Queer Lifting Club, or maybe you want help putting together a movement practice for at home. This workshop is a great place to start and to go over basics in a fun, body positive and low key way. We’ll go over the basics, the fundamental movement patterns and we’ll play around with our own body weight, resistance bands as well as dumbbells. Expect a mix of theory and movement to get the juices flowing!

SUNDAY, NOV 23

(10:30 – 12:30pm)

GAINS THRU PAINS

A workshop for all levels! Sedentary work lives, trauma, and common injuries can really impact our bodies and what they feel capable of. This workshop will consolidate the common issues I have seen in my training experience (painful knees during squats, achey shoulders in chest presses, constant low back pain, rounded shoulders…) and focus on how to connect to, engage, and train those areas specifically. There will be use of massage balls and tools to help with external movement cues, as well as traditional strength movements using our bodies and weights! This is a space to explore and move smarter!

(1:30-3:30pm)

HARD-CORE LIFT-ISTS

A workshop for most levels, maybe not the super newbs. So many people talk about their cores and how little they engage/understand/train their cores. What even is your core? How do you train it? Are sit ups enough? What if I hate sit ups?

I gotchu. We’ll go over some basic core anatomy, learn the different types of core movements commonly seen in strength training, and then obviously do a bunch of core exercises to feel out everything we’re learning!

**NADINE WILL ALSO BE TEACHING QUEER LIFTING CLUB WHILE HERE (NOV. 20TH, 22ND AND 25TH)**

BIO

Hi, my name is Nadine (@beef.cake.strength) and I’m a personal trainer located in Tkaronto. In 2022 I left the food industry after almost 20 years to pursue my dream of being a personal trainer to my community. I try to meet people where they’re at, and act as a warm, welcoming (and hilarious) gateway to a movement practice that has brought me so much joy and healing. My approach has been called “sensations-forward”, as I’ve used lifting to connect to my body’s ability to feel, both the discomfort and the joy that come from throwing weight around. I love guiding people towards the strength capabilities within, and showing them that their bodies can do cool, new things.

Thanks to Laurel at Studio Ed, I’ve been able to have the creative freedom to organize nerdy workshops and workout spaces for queer people that I wish existed when I was learning to strength train.
